Yuriko Koike and Yumi Katsura to Speak at Club
The Club welcomes the Tokyo governor and a Japanese fashion legend as the keynote speakers of its International Women's Day Luncheon on March 8.
Yuriko Koike was reelected as Tokyo's first female leader in 2020 after a number of years in national politics.
First elected to parliament in 1992, she served as Japan’s environment minister for three years from 2003 and became the country’s first-ever female defense minister in 2007.
The former TV news anchor will share her thoughts on empowering women in Japan.
Renowned fashion designer Yumi Katsura (pictured) will also speak at this Connections-organized event to mark the annual day to recognize the achievements of women around the world.
Katsura, who graces the cover of March's INTOUCH magazine, has been a pioneer in the world of fashion for more than five decades and is particularly well known for her wedding dress designs.
